Weekend Getaway Satchel

woo-hoo - It’s finally finished! I really like it and I think I will use it. I ended up putting on leather straps and black I-cord – the red was just too much for my taste and I don’t think the felt straps will hold up. I changed the shape a little, by making the sides straighter and I placed form core in the bottom to hold the shape.
The minute I saw this pattern I knew I had to make it. I totally love the design! It was the first time I did intarsia, so, it is messier than I would like, but felting masks all mistakes. I also put beads on the center of the flowers.
I no sooner posted it on Ravelry and Marta McCall, the designer of the pattern commented on it, saying "Fantastic, wonderful, super!! I love your black felted straps connecting to leather straps–elegant! The lining couldn’t be better, too! You make a designer proud!"
What a great compliment!

Beautiful

I was sitting in the studio when I noticed the gardens were looking quite lovely, so I grabbed the camera and these are the best shots. How fantastic is the butterfly!
